The third United Nations Ocean Conference (UNOC3), which took place in Nice, France and was co-hosted by France and Costa Rica, concluded with the adoption of the Nice Ocean Action Plan.
      ○ The first UNOC occurred in 2017, followed by the second in 2022.
 Key Highlights of the Action Plan:
  ● Three main priorities:  
        ○ Striving for the successful conclusion and implementation of international agreements, such as the High Seas Treaty (BBNJ Agreement).
        ○ Increasing funding for SDG 14 (Life below water) and promoting a sustainable Blue Economy.
        ○ Enhancing and sharing marine science knowledge to guide policy-making and supporting the establishment of the International Panel for Ocean Sustainability (IPOS).
      ○ Reaffirms the commitment to develop an international legally binding instrument on plastic pollution and to mitigate the impacts of climate change and acidification on oceans and the coastal communities that depend on them.
