The Supreme Court has recently put a hold on projects in this area. The location is in North Goa, situated along the Western Ghats and sharing borders with Karnataka and Maharashtra. The Mahadei (Mondovi) River runs through a wildlife sanctuary in this region. The area is home to various fauna, including tigers, leopards, sloth bears, gaurs, and sambar deer. The forest is characterized by moist deciduous vegetation and includes some evergreen species, such as the rare Ashoka tree known for its unique saffron-colored flowers.
