News Context
The Ravi and Beas Waters Tribunal, established in 1986, has been granted an extension for an additional year. The Beas River originates from Beas Kund on the southern side of the Rohtang Pass in Kullu. It flows and merges with the Sutlej River at Harike in Punjab. Its tributaries include the Bain, Banganga, Luni, and Uhal rivers. The Beas River is responsible for forming the Kullu and Kangra valleys. In ancient times, it was known by its Sanskrit name, Vipasha.
