News Context
Kerala executed India's inaugural science-based, community-driven initiative to eliminate Senna Spectabilis in Wayanad. This invasive species, originally from the American tropics, creates dense, non-reproductive thickets that suffocate native vegetation, change soil chemistry, and deprive herbivores of nourishment. It can grow between 7-18 meters tall and bears a resemblance to Kerala's state flower, kanikkonna.
