Cicadas ( UPSC Prelims)

News Context

Cicadas have made a comeback in Kerala's Silent Valley National Park. These insects are typically found in warm and temperate biomes. Their life cycle consists of three stages: egg, nymph, and adult. Adult females generally deposit their eggs in the tissues of woody plants. Most species are known for their exceptionally loud song, which is created by the rapid buckling and unbuckling of drum-like tymbals.
