News Context

Five tigers have been discovered deceased in the MM Hills Wildlife Sanctuary, situated in southeast Karnataka. This sanctuary serves as a crucial connecting corridor between the Biligiri Ranganatha Swamy Temple (BRT) Wildlife Sanctuary and the Cauvery Wildlife Sanctuary. The area is primarily characterized by dry deciduous forests, with patches of semi-evergreen and Shola forests at higher elevations, as well as scrub forests in the fringe zones. The sanctuary is home to various fauna, including the tiger, elephant, leopard, wild dog (dhole), and sloth bear. It plays a significant role as an important corridor in the Eastern Ghats-Western Ghats landscape.
