News Context

Studies show evidence of geological changes following the disappearance of water. The area in question is the boundary between Kazakhstan to the north and Uzbekistan to the south. The disappearance was caused by the diversion of the Amu Darya and Syr Darya rivers. The once dried-up Aral Sea has transformed into the dangerous Aralkum Desert.
